The 1st Rotary Community Corps District 3780 Assembly was successfully held on December 17, 2005, Saturday at the Tivoli Royale Country Club, near Commonwealth Avenue, Batasan Hills, Quezon City. The RCC District Committee led by District Chair Jose “Jess” Q. Cifra (PP, Rotary Club of Loyola Heights), organized the Assembly to provide the Rotary Clubs and the Rotary Community Corps in the District with basic information about RCCs. The event was also aimed at heightening the interest of Rotary Clubs which had not yet sponsored RCCs to do so in the current Rotary year.
This was the first time that the District organized a Distas for RCCs. It was very successful based on the turnout of 150 attendees coming from 18 Rotary Clubs and 22 RCCs.

     DG Benjie Bacorro and DGE Danny Espinosa led the dignitaries from RI D-3780. Resource persons that made up the impressive training team were PDG Danny Yu, President of the Rotary Village Corps Foundation; PP Alex Flores, a well-known academician, media practitioner and an advocate for entrepreneurial development; and PDG Bimbo Salazar, whose many qualifications include being a former member of the Monetary Board.

     The highlight was the induction of newly-organized RCCs in the District followed by the pinning of the RCC emblems on the new RCC members by the officers and members of the sponsoring Rotary Clubs.

     DG Benjie Bacorro lauded PP Jess Cifra for organizing an event “that for the first time, honored and brought together Rotary’s Partners in Service to the community.’ He said, “Never before has the District honored the people whom Rotary works with in rendering service to the community, the nameless but most valuable individuals whose diligent service and shared passion for the community’s welfare make possible the various projects of Rotary in the community.”
